I’m now in DC for the highly anticipated 2nd edition of the DC/Dox Fest!
There is an incredible lineup featuring three films we are working on (see below). I will also be participating in the Reality Check Workshop: Policy in Focus – with Michael Bracy on Saturday, 15th June 2024.
Unlike most festival panels – Michael has structured this as a workshop where filmmakers will break into groups and we explore how engaging policymakers, advocacy groups, coalitions, think tanks, diplomats, and academics could be a part of their impact and distribution campaigns.
Three films we’ve been working on are also gracing the DC/Dox screens.
- Sabbath Queen: A daring exploration of faith, identity, and redefining tradition;
- 1-800-ON-HER-OWN: A chronicle of Ani DiFranco’s incredible journey, offering a glimpse into the life of a truly inspiring artist; and,
- The Ride Ahead: Samuel Habib is a typical 21-year-old, itching to move out, start a career, and find love. But no one tells you how to be an adult, let alone an adult with a disability. Can a community of disability activists help him follow his dreams?
After the first day, I can already say that DC/Dox is one of those wonderful intimate festivals that I love so much, where it is so easy to meet other filmmakers and people from our community. If you are here – I hope we can connect!
