I am also super excited to tell you that you can download the PDFor ePub version for free or by tomorrow you can order the paperback for $9.99 ($10 off the regular retail price of $19.99) by clicking here.

Finally for any of you in New York City next week, you are invited to our Launch Party Monday Night September 19th from 6-8pm at Bamboo52 344 West 52nd Street NYNY.  For more info and to RSVP click here by September 16th.

SELLING YOUR FILM WITHOUT SELLING YOUR SOUL peers behind the curtain of secrecy surrounding distribution, and celebrates the independent spirit of groundbreaking filmmakers. The book includes marketing and crowdfunding strategies, distribution spends, community building and detailed ancillary and digital distribution numbers for the following films: Ride The Divide, The Cosmonaut, The Best and The Brightest, Sita Sings the Blues, Note by Note, Bass Ackwards, Adventures of Power, American: The Bill Hicks Story, Undertow, For the Bible Tells Me So, and the webseries PioneerOne.

“The biggest challenge facing filmmakers contemplating releasing their own films is gaining the knowledge needed to do it. Full of real-world strategies and fact-filled case studies, ‘Selling Your Film Without Selling Your Soul‘ is a must read for filmmakers contemplating entrepreneurship in the name of their art.”
-Scott Macaulay, Filmmaker Magazine

“This book holds the ingredients for making films in the 21st century. And the best part is that the meal won’t be complete without your trying out these recipes, participating, adding to this growing body of knowledge so we can all enjoy a cinematic movable feast for the new age of filmmaking.”
-Tiffany Shlain, filmmaker

Selling Your Film Without Selling Your Soul” proves that the dominant challenges of yesterday are now solve-able. Nothing is out of reach. The path to freedom has been found!”
– Ted Hope

The project was initiated by The Film Collaborative who asked myself and Sheri Candler to co-write with them.   It is being released in print and digital formats and will be always be free as a PDF and will be free or almost free on Kindle ($1.99), Nook and iBook until October 1. The iPad version has embedded video interviews.

Also of interest, we funded the book via sponsorships. Digital formats are presented by Prescreen. Print edition is presented by Prescreen and Area23a. Other sponsors include Dynamo, Gravitas, EggUp, Distrify, IndieWire/Snag, Topspin.

I will be at Independent Film Week in NYC as part of my continuing participation in the IFP Filmmaker Labs.

I will also be doing a TOTBO Workshop as part of the Flyway Film Festival on the 21st and 22nd of October.

Also on October 28th I will be taking part in DIY Days in Los Angeles with Lance Weiler and Christy Dena along with many others (and the whole day is free – but you need to register in advance.)

I wrote a post for Sundance’s new ArtistServices site about how I would release Bomb It today – knowing what I know now. That site is members only – but I reposted it on my blog here.

Ted Hope has posted a number of pieces from me about the PMD 1 2 – and he has started a list of PMDs available to work on films.   If you are looking for a PMD or are a PMD and want to be posted go to his blog.
