“Awe-inspiring. Enthralling. Sabbath Queen is a rich and intimate portrait… One of the best films I’ve seen this year.” The Hollywood Reporter
8 Above is handling the theatrical release of Sandi Dubowski’s wonderful new film Sabbath Queen which has its theatrical premiere Friday, November 22nd at the IFC Center in New York.
This groundbreaking documentary, filmed over 21 years, follows the incredible journey of Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie, a descendant of 39 generations of Orthodox rabbis, who embraces his own unique path as a drag queen, a father, and the founder of Lab/Shul, a progressive, inclusive religious community.
Don’t miss this powerful story about faith, identity, and redefining tradition. I’ll be in NY and LA for the theatrical premieres (LA premiere is on Dec 5), and I hope to see you there.
